A patches for having good attitude. Other patches just mixed up in a
bag that I let players pick from whenever I needed to get a little
more motivation going..."the group that works hardest at this drill
gets to pick out a patch" "Everyone that does 100 kicks at home on 3
different days gets to pick out a patch" "These 4 players worked extra
hard in the game today" etc. |

Q6: Have you had any problems with patches?
|
yes kids just want more |
|
a few have come off
Response: patches shouldn't
come off if you follow these
instructions. However, if they do become detached (in a very hot
wash, for example) they can easily be reattached with fabric glue or a
couple of stitches. |
|
No - the children love them |
Q7: Have you had any success stories with
patches?
|
I thought the parents would laugh at me when I
suggested using them [but] the feedback I got was overwhelming
positive. We won 7 of out 8 league games since using them, and won our
first ever tournament - in our previous 5 attempts, we'd only
progressed passed the qualifying stage twice. Maybe it's coincidence,
but even so, I'm happy to keep using them if they get results like
that! |
|
...patches provide good motivation and look
impressive worn on the arm of the teams shirt. Players work hard to
get them because they then stand out as someone who does well. |
|
yes skills patch has helped with keepy ups :) |
|
Team do not win more matches (only won 1 match out of
16 so far this season), but there has been a definite improvement in
performance in all players. |
|
Attendance is now 100%, focus has increased, the boys
are desperate each week to see who is getting a patch. They have an
armful of patches, they're are proud, other managers keep asking what they are. |
|
Had an impact on effort, and attention! |
|
The patches have transformed my players, especially
their attitude and willingness to learn, I have seen significant
improvements in performance and attitude. |
|
Attention is better, behaviour is better. |
|
We have one boy who is an exceptional player but thinks he knows best
and never listened at training, using patches as star of the day,
because the player did as they were asked changed this and we used the
tactic on match days too. |
|
I find that in training for my 4/5/6 year olds that they work hard to
win a patch. |
|
Yes the players have improved their weaker foot dramatically. |
|
Attendance, motivation, teamwork, shooting, passing have
improved. Winning as a team,
better defence, respect for opposing teams and referees, improved behaviour. |
|
One boy was a problem at school but behaviour has improved through
attending football training loves patches so indirectly they have helped. |
|
Several boys have improved during the season and keep looking for
rewards so continuous improvement. |
|
Yes when the little ones have misbehaved during
training we don't give them out and tell them the reason why. The
following week there is a vast improvement!! |
|
Kids who usually rolled up late for training came
running across the field to make sure they were on time. Kids that
used to hog the ball passed more & went for an assist if they couldn't
score themselves. |
|
Weaker players being more adventurous and building
confidence through patch awards |
|
Since starting to use the patches I have noticed a
definite improvement in the kids response to instructions. I decided
to make the patches slightly harder to win by having the kids earn 5
points in each skill area to earn the patches. Now I regularly see the
kids practicing their juggling skills in their free time at the start
of every session. This week I handed out the first set of training
attendance patches and the kids were so excited! |
Q8: Do you consider footy4kids patches to be
good value for money?
98% rated patches 4/4 or 3/4 for value
for money.
Response:
the
new coaching packs make
patches even better value!
